MEET DIEGO
I am a proud Elmwood neighbor, father, husband, teacher, and clinical social worker.
I moved to Providence from Washington DC in 2012 to go to college and I fell in love with the city. My wife, Jen, and I bought our home on Adelaide Avenue in 2019, where we live with our kids, Dexter and Luca. My mom, their abuela, came to this country as a refugee from El Salvador. She arrived speaking no English and built a career as a therapist helping traumatized families heal. She taught me the value of bilingual education and service. She is my role model.
I have been fortunate enough to work in shelters, churches and healthcare services across RI. I serve on the board of one of the only fully bilingual schools in Providence. I am starting an Elmwood solar cooperative like the one I started in DC with my best friend and his mom. Good public education, affordable green energy, decent emergency mental health services —that’s who I am and why I am running for Providence City Council.
